Understand Yourself...
Everyone
is born with a natural organizing style. You may not know what
yours is. Let's consider the different organizing styles we
are born with. Look at the Organizing Style Line on this page.
On one end of the line you see the word "Visual;"
on the other, the word "Camouflage."
Review the
descriptions to determine your unique style. After reviewing the
descriptions, you may find it simple to recognize your style.
However, keep in mind that your style may not be so extreme or
you may be a combination of the two styles. If you need a little
help in deciding, read the first line under Visual and the first
line under Camouflage, then mark the "Organizing Style Line"
closest to the description that represents you. Then move to the
next line. After you have completed them all, your style should
be evident by the most marks in one area.

There is no
right or wrong answer, just the one that best represents your
true style. Once we understand our own unique style of organizing
we can eliminate the "shoulds," "oughts" and
"musts" and work efficiently using our natural organizing
style.
Organizing
is the path by which we use our skills and gifts to reach our
goals.
Are you ready to tame the chaos in your life?
Declutter
- to remove clutter from your life
Clutter
is anything that does not bring you joy or help you reach your
goals. Clutter can be:
 |
Physical
- paper, furniture, clothes, stuff |
 |
Mental
-- thoughts, ideas, rules |
 |
Emotional
-- shoulds, expectations, guilt |
 |
Spiritual
-- rules, frustration, anything that is draining or makes
you feel unworthy |
Guide
Questions for Decluttering:
- Will
it help me reach my goal?
- Is
it keeping me from reaching my goal?
- What
is it costing me to keep it?
|
The
goal is NOT to organize your clutter, but to eliminate
it. The more you hold on to, the less space you have for
what you truly want or enjoy. To simplify your life...First
define your goals ~ Then declutter anything (or anyone)
that is in your way.

to
designate places for things and a way to get them there.

can find your stuff.

different systems until you find the system which works
best for you.
- If
working with others, identify their organizing styles,
and find solutions for all of you.

that you need to organize to fit your lifestyle, not just
so you can find your stuff.

Simplify
to
eliminate time wasters from your life, leaving extra time to live
the life you want and maintain your decluttering and organizing.
- Keep
items where you need to use them.
- Make
the behavioral changes needed to organize and stick with
them for 21 days.
- Use
triggers to catch yourself if you start to slip. It is
easier to readjust than to start over!
